Summary

We both come from family backgrounds that encouraged us to integrate healthy choices into our daily lives and we hope to pass this kind of intuitive focus on well-being onto our students. We are both very committed to supporting the diversity of our students and integrating their individual abilities and backgrounds seamlessly into our daily practice. We want students to feel comfortable sharing what they know and taking risks with what they are not yet familiar with. This is especially important in the health and physical education classroom which touches on many personal subjects that are vital for life-long physical and mental well-being. We want to place emphasis on the process of learning, and want to use a play-based pedagogy framework as much as possible.

Through health and physical education we can help students connect with their emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual selves, as well as with each other. Some of our most powerful memories have come from connecting with nature through physical activities and we want to keep an environmental and place-based mindset as we design and implement our health and physical education teaching.

In creating this website, we were able to consolidate our knowledge that we have gained throughout this year and are thankful to have an easy-to-access reference for our future use. We hope this site will be a valuable resource for you as well and that you are able to use the many links and resources to enhance your health and physical education professional practice!
