About Us

Welcome!

We are teacher candidates that will soon graduate from the Bachelor of Education program at the University of Windsor.

Sidney: I am from Windsor, Ontario and have lived around the world (in Toronto, New Zealand, and Taiwan) working with and instructing students of a huge range of different ages and background. I worked for 7 years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, and through this experience saw first hand the importance of both physical and emotional safety to allow students to feel comfortable taking risks. Health and physical activity for me is directly tied to nature: my ability to experience the outdoors, to be a good steward of the environment, and the capacity for the nature I am in to affect my mental health and well-being.

RomonaI am born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Due to my busy schedule, I often find myself exhausted after completing several tasks. This resulted in me getting into yoga and meditation. Since we only have one body, I feel like Health and Physical Education are key in nourishing it to grow and maintain itself. Having competency around health and being physically literate can significantly affect your physical as well as mental health. Due to this fact we must treat our health similar to how we treat our wealth- by prioritizing and organizing specific matters. As an educator, taking on the role as a catalyst for change will aid me in delivering content surrounding H&PE that is engaging, interactive, and educational.

  • Supports the development of character. This  includes striving to achieve one’s personal best, equity, as well as fair play. Through this the curriculum covers the realms of respect for diversity, sensitivity, and respect for individual requirements and needs, and good health and well-being.

  •  Students will develop the ability to persist through conflict, manage their behaviour and impulses, take responsible risks, and listen with understanding. It is expected that students become better able to take more responsibility for their learning and progress.

  • Can apply the understanding of movement that they acquire in health and physical education to other physical activities that they participate in at school, at home, and in the community, and they can apply their learning about mental health and healthy living to make healthier food choices, help with meal preparation, and make decisions about substance use, sexual health, and injury prevention.
